Strobist: One flash from the bottom right, pointing up, and one flash from the left of the cactus, on a tripod, with a Gary Fong Amberdome on it.
This was by the road, and between the road and the cactus was a ditch and then a 5-foot wall of dirt. I stood on the road to take the picture, at about eye level with the cactus. The original photo had a bush on each side of the picture, but I didn't like them so I cloned the flowers and grass over them. I wanted the horizontal lines to be stronger with just the cactus interrupting them. I could have cropped off the dirt and rocks at the bottom, but I like it because it adds another horizontal line and another texture.
